Each of the 4 voice parts in this layered song has just one short, repeated phrase, which has a different rhythm from the others, as well as different notes. The parts can all be sung at the same time or in various groupings, & the sound changes with each combination. There are some clashes & cross rhythms, which both singers & leaders may need a few goes at but, overall, with such short lines, I’ve categorised this song as Quick & Easy.
I’ve been lucky enough to lead some singing holidays abroad and we’ve often found ourselves in beautiful locations as the sun has been setting which, of course, has moved us to sing! I wrote this layered song in 2011, to add to the list of: ‘quick songs to sing at sunset’.
