Description

The voice parts in this arrangement are quite different from each other: a tune with quite a big range, a floaty top part, crunchy middle & rhythmical bassline. None of the sections of the song are especially complex, but there are some contrasting rhythms, close harmonies & sections that are similar but different (& therefore easy to confuse) so I’ve categorised this arrangement as having Some Challenges.

It’s not clear whether the song was originally intended to be about a girl (possibly Hoagy’s sister, Georgia) or the American state, but Ray Charles (born in Georgia state), made the song famous in the 1960s &, in 1979, the Georgia House of Representatives declared it the official state song.
