Description

This song has 3 different sections, with several repetitions & adaptations – some easier than others. This means that you can decide how much or little of the song to learn & therefore how much of a challenge you want to take on. There are a few clashes throughout, but the rhythm is pretty straightforward most of the time, so I’ve categorised this arrangement as having Some Challenges.

This quirky song has been enjoyed by many harmony groups, but was first made famous by the Ink Spots, soon after it was written. I’ll leave you to decide quite what it’s all about: prohibition? drugs? sex? or is it really just about hot beverages? I first sang it in the 1980s, with Manchester-based acapella group: Strange Company and, in 1998, I adapted Strange Company’s harmonies so that I could teach the song on my workshops.
