You can adapt this song to suit your group and the time available. The verses keep a regular tempo and have straightforward harmonies, and the other sections have a freer timing structure and more clashes. That’s why I’ve categorised this song as either Quite Easy or having Some Challenges.
I wrote the song back in 2008, after attending a song-writing retreat. I struggled to come up with anything during the retreat itself but afterwards, with invaluable help from fellow NVN member, Moira Hill, I came up with the verses. The following year, when I wanted to make the song more substantial, for The Lovenotes to sing at our Christmas concert, I added the sections at the beginning, middle and end, giving the song a more contemplative feel.
