Jazz and Swing workshops are all about tantalizing melodies, crunchy harmonies and fiendish rhythms. They’re inspired by the complex, close harmonies found in British and American popular songs from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. A workshop can include standards from this period, unexpected songs that have been given the jazz or swing treatment and original songs, created especially for the jazz and swing experience. Some of the original songs are short and quite quick to learn, some of the melodies may be familiar and therefore easier to pick up, but many of the harmony parts take longer to learn and can offer a challenge even to experienced acapella singers.
